100 Year Old Mosquito Bites a Clown Performance POV (2022)
Performance, 360 video documentation
360 video documentation of a biking, walking, and clowning performance
while an artist-in-residence at the Chautauqua Institution in Upstate New York.
Appropriating the form of popular touristic 360 camera videos on Youtube,
100-Year Old Mosquito Bites a Clown Performance POV responds to
the racial power dynamics, colonial history and architecture, and the intellectual legacy of
Chautauqua through the collision of the low-brow, fantastical, and mundane.
Blurring the lines of studio and stage, the artist builds and enters into portals of the gated,
liberal, intellectual institution of Chautauqua, bringing a 360 camera throughout its
residential neighborhoods, into the opera house, and finally, into the artist’s studio.
